National support group for Forest-based Sector Technological Platform in Lithuania  -2 phase of activities started

On February 15th 2005 a first step has been taken to consolidate the research needs of the forest based sector by presenting the sector´s "Vision 2030" (for more information please visit www.forestplatform.org) and thus officially launch the Forest Technology Platform (FTP).

Now we are entering into the next phase which is the development of a Strategic research agenda (SRA). The attached document ( 29.0 kb )  will give you an idea about the organisation of the work to achieve this goal.

National support group of FTP in Lithuania is in process  to find the right and competent people for the challenging task to develop a Strategic research agenda for Forest based sector (including such areas as Forestry, Wood products, Pulp and paper, Bioenergy).  Take Forestry, for example,  there are 4 working groups foreseen: Forestry andconsumer&society, Forestry and environment, Forestry and energy, Forestry and competitiveness.

We are going to nominate specialists from within participating organisations that are competent and experienced in the respective field. Their task will be to develop in cooperation with the Chairman for the corresponding FTP area WG  research needs in the 4 areas for the next 10 - 15 years.
